Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich - The Western Michigan women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 defeat against Cleveland State in a non-conference match at the West Hills Athletic Club on Monday. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 1-1 overall for the 2020 dual campaign after winning their season opener versus Oakland on Saturday.
The Vikings took the 1-0 advantage over WMU following two victories in the doubles portion of the contest. Senior
Gabriela Slavova and freshman
Lindsey Zieglar were leading Sian Payne and Gaby Schoenberg 5-4 at the #3 spot when Cleveland State clinched the doubles point.Â
The Broncos started the singles event strong, winning three of the first four matches to go ahead 3-2 overall.

 Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Zieglar each picked up straight set victories on the afternoon. Viking senior Blanche Lenoan then tied the match at 3-3 following a closely contested win over Slavova at the #3 position. #6 singles decided the contest, as junior
Valerie Riegraf fell to Schoenberg (6-7, 3-6).Â
Kaitlyn and Lindsey both improved to 2-0 in singles action on the season for the Broncos.
Western Michigan will face its first road test of the year this Friday against DePaul at 8 p.m. ET.Â
