KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Following a season-opening home victory against Michigan State, the Western Michigan gymnastics program hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Tucson, Ariz., for the Arizona Quad Meet.
The Broncos will compete against Iowa State, Rutgers and the host Wildcats during Saturday's 4 p.m. event. Saturday's meet will also mark WMU's first trip to Arizona in program history.
Last weekend, WMU opened the campaign with the highest season-opening score in program history, posting a 195.275 versus Michigan State. The Broncos' total score was the 11th highest in the country last weekend.
On the beam against the Spartans, Western Michigan finished with a 49.075, the sixth-best mark in the country during the opening weekend. The Broncos trailed only Denver (49.425), Oklahoma (49.225), Georgia (49.200), Missouri (49.200) and Utah (49.100).

Payton Murphy tied for second on the bars against Michigan State with matching 9.850 scores. Sophomore
Emily Carless was just behind in fourth with a 9.825 showing.
The Broncos took the top three places on bars last week with Mohler and Murphy tying for first with 9.800 scores. Junior
Stacie Harrison and Michigan State's Lea Mitchell tied for third with 9.775 performances. The last two Mid-American Conference Championship bars titles have been won outright or shared by the Broncos with Harrison taking the crown in 2018 and
Alexis Olivier, now a junior, sharing it last winter.
Murphy took the all-around win versus the Spartans with a 39.175 while fellow rookie
Charlotte Tishkoff was third with a 38.825 score.
After Saturday's meet in Arizona, the Broncos open Mid-American Conference action with a 7:30 p.m. tilt at Northern Illinois on Friday, January 17.
