Women's Soccer Falls at Colorado College, 3-1

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 road loss at Colorado College on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Jenna Wilt in the 26th minute but the Broncos (1-3) responded in the 28th minute on Rachel Royer's first career goal. Senior forward Grace Labadie picked up the assist on the goal as the team's stayed tied up at 1-1 into the second half.

Lucia Costanza put the Tigers up 2-1 on a goal in the 53rd minute, with Wilt picking up the assist on the would-be game-winning goal. CC added an insurance goal in the 68th minute, scored by Tayla Wheeler.

Maggie Rogers made five saves for the Broncos but was spelled by Hannah Sargent in the second half. Bailey Korhorn, Kai Sugiyama and Labadie each had two shots to lead the Broncos, who finished with 10 overall and five on goal.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed due to weather issues. WMU canceled its game with Air Force, which was supposed to be played today.

Western Michigan opens up a five-game home stand on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. against Oakland. WMU also welcomes Kansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. before wrapping up non-conference play against Loyola Chicago on Friday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. Mid-American Conference play begins on Friday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. against Kent State, with Ohio coming to the WMU Soccer Complex on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
