KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team is set to host the University of Akron Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m. outside at Sorensen Courts.Â

Western Michigan dropped its first Mid-American Conference game of the year last Friday inside West Hills Athletic Club, falling 5-2 versus Buffalo. The senior/freshman duo of
Melina Lyubomirova and
Femke Tjon-A-Joe improved to 12-3 on the season with their fourth-straight doubles win, a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot over Buffalo's Pia Schwarz & Arianna Paules Aldrey.
HOME COOKING
The Broncos are 9-3 on their home court at West Hills Athletic Club, including four-straight victories Feb. 15-24. WMU had four out its first five matches to open the 2019 schedule at home, coming away with a 4-1 start, marking the best start to a dual-match season since the 2016 Broncos also began its spring campaign going 4-1.Â
ABOUT THE ZIPS
Akron recently improved to 3-1 in the MAC with a 7-0 win over Northern Illinois on its home court on Friday while its overall record moved to 18-4.Â
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's match will mark the 32nd all-time meeting between Western Michigan and Akron, with the Broncos owning a 23-8 series advantage. During last season's meeting with each other, the decision came down to the final singles match with the Zips prevailing 4-3 over WMU in Akron, Ohio.Â
UP NEXT
The Broncos host Toledo next Sunday, April 14 during senior day and the final regular season home match. Doubles are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
