Gymnastics Wraps Up Season at the NCAA Regional Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – The Western Michigan gymnastics season came to an end as senior Rachael Underwood and sophomore Morgan Spence wrapped up competition at the NCAA Regional Championships at the University of Georgia on Friday night.

Underwood finished in seventh in the all-around with a score of 38.475. Her best performance on the day came on the floor exercise, tying for eighth with a score of 9.850. She finished with a 9.775 in the vault, a 9.775 on the beam and a 9.075 on the bars.

Underwood wraps up her career having competed at the NCAA Regionals in all four years. She was recently named the Mid-American Conference Senior Gymnast of the Year and was named Second Team All-MAC. She leaves holding the program record in the all-around at 39.350.

Spence competed at the NCAA Regional Championships for the second time in her career, finishing in 24th in the bars with a score of 9.700. Like her elder counterpart, she had also earned Second Team All-MAC honors.
