Mackenzie Swinehart, Sydney Stefanick, and Kaylen Glenfield combined for eight of the 11 runs batted in for the Brown & Gold in game one, with three each from Swinehart and Stefanick along with three hits from Glenfield. Reily Galloway earned her third win in a row in the pitcher's circle, tossing a complete game while allowing three earned runs in seven innings to improve her record to 3-5 on the season.

GLENFIELD NAMED MAC SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
The MAC announced its Male and Female Scholar Athletes on Wednesday with Kaylen Glenfield representing WMU. Glenfield slashed .615/.615/.923 with a home run, double, and five runs batted in as WMU went 2-1 March 27-29, falling at Notre Dame prior to opening conference play with a pair of wins at the University of Akron. Glenfield recorded the game-winning RBI during WMU's 4-3 comeback win in game one versus the Zips and led the Broncos in game two going 5-for-6 at the plate while WMU tallied a school record 22 hits. In the classroom, Glenfield maintains a 3.98 GPA majoring in human resource management.

ABOUT THE BRONCOS
WMU has opened conference action with a total of 52 hits in four games and ranks second in the MAC with a .280 batting average as a team. Sophomore Sydney Stefanick ranks among the top five in the MAC with an .824 slugging percentage (2nd), .405 batting average (4th), 28 RBI (4th), and eight home runs (4th). SERIES HISTORY
This weekend's games will mark the 85-87th all-time meetings between Western Michigan and Kent State, with the Golden Flashes owning a 52-32 series advantage. Last season, WMU faced KSU in Kent, Ohio for the MAC opener, dropped the first two games of the series prior to winning game three 12-1.

SCOUTING KENT STATE
The Golden Flashes most recently split a doubleheader against Ohio at their home field on Tuesday, winning 2-1 in game one and losing 10-2 in five innings in the nightcap. As a team, KSU has committed the fewest amount of errors in the MAC and owns the third best fielding percentage (.964). Senior Bailey Brownfield leads the team with 11 doubles (T-3rd/MAC) and 16 RBI. Redshirt freshman pitcher Andrea Scali leads the pitching staff with 87.1 innings pitched, limiting batters to a .217 batting average.

BRONCOS ADD PAIR TO RECRUITING CLASS
Head coach Kathy Leitke recently announced the addition of two more to the 2020 recruiting class, as Maddie Duell and Autumn Godwin have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to continue their academic and athletic careers at Western Michigan. Duell comes to WMU from nearby Mattawan, Mich., where she has been a four-year letter winner at Mattawan High School. Duell has led the Wildcats to a pair of district championships including a Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference conference title last season. Fremont, Ind., native Autumn Godwin is right handed pitcher that led Fremont High School to a sectional and regional championship last season as the Eagles turned in a 26-6 record.
