MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - A pair of lopsided games resulted in a Mid-American Conference split for Western Michigan softball at in-state rival Central Michigan Tuesday afternoon, winning 12-5 in game one prior to an 11-3 game two setback.Â
The split moves the Broncos' record to 10-14 overall and 3-1 in the MAC.Â

The Broncos totaled double digits in the hits and runs column for the second consecutive game with game one's output, coming off the big game two win at Akron. Led by a strong start with a trio of runs in the first two innings, WMU tallied 14 hits including four doubles and two homers.Â
Mackenzie Swinehart,
Sydney Stefanick, and
Kaylen Glenfield combined for eight of the 11 runs batted in for the Brown & Gold, with three each from Swinehart and Stefanick along with three hits from Glenfield.Â
A
Jenna Faultersack double in the first and a bases-clearing two-bagger from Swinehart in the second headlined WMU's strong start to give the visitors a 6-3 advantage. A
Logan Carter RBI double and homers from Glenfield and Stefanick then gave the Broncos a 10-3 lead through six as they coasted the rest of the way.Â
Reily Galloway earned her third win in a row in the pitcher's circle, tossing a complete game while allowing three earned runs in seven innings to improve her record to 3-5 on the season.Â

Game two was a different story as the Chippewas answered with 10 runs in the first two frames to jump out to a big lead.Â
Down 3-0 after one inning,
Erin Barg's third homer in the last four games in the second cut the CMU lead to 3-2 but the home team pushed across seven runs in the bottom half to claim an eight-run cushion.Â
The Broncos added one more run in the third with Stefanick's fourth RBI of the day, but a Chippewa solo home run in the fifth inning ended the game on the eight-run rule.Â
WMU committed three errors, allowing four CMU unearned runs as the Bronco offense was limited to six hits at the plate. Stefanick led Western Michigan with a 3-for-3 performance.Â
Stefanick suffered the loss in the pitcher's circle, only lasting one inning.
