MUNCIE, Ind. – The Western Michigan track and field team's group of young throwers shined as WMU wrapped up the first day of competition at the Ball State Challenge on Friday.
Sophomore Aniya Davis led the way in the hammer throw with a personal-best distance of 159' 8" (48.67m). It was the second time this season she had a personal-best in the hammer, this time placing sixth in the event. Taylor Eaton finished just behind her in eighth place after throwing a distance of 153' 9" (46.88m).
"That group is doing a great job of putting in the work and are really starting to see the results," said interim head coach Taryn Sheehan. "It's really exciting for the program to see that young group making improvements and gains every opportunity they get.
