Football to Hold Walk-On Tryouts March 27

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The Western Michigan football team will hold walk-on tryouts for the 2019 fall roster on Wednesday, March 27th, at Waldo Stadium or the Seelye Indoor Facility (weather pending).

To try out for a Western Michigan varsity athletic team, you must be a current, full-time student at WMU. Attendees must have all paperwork turned in by March 20th (5:00 p.m.) and be present on March 27th by 10:15 a.m. just inside Gate 2 of Waldo Stadium. Tryouts will go no later than 11:30 a.m.

YOU MUST HAVE ALL MATERIALS ON FILE WITH US IN ORDER TO TRY OUT. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE.

Current students will need to bring the following documents:

- A current class schedule showing you are enrolled as a full time student

- Photo Identification

- Proof of Insurance

- A Current Physical, which must be dated within last six months of this tryout date.

- Sickle cell testing results

- Paper proof of current G.P.A of 2.5 for Returning WMU Students (Cumulative)

- Character reference letter from someone other than a family member (i.e. professor, Advisor, High School Coach etc) A physical, sickle cell test, and insurance paperwork MUST be completed to attend the tryout session. A PDF of the required physical form, as well as insurance form, can be downloaded at the top of this page. No form is necessary for the sickle cell test. A copy of the results should be turned in with physical and proof of insurance. Physicals and sickle cell test may be done on campus at the Sindecuse Center or by a family physician. *Please note, appointments are needed for physicals at the Sindecuse Center, contact: (269) 387-3290. Physicals must have been performed in the last six months.

If you do not have all of the materials that apply to you, then you will be unable to participate. Please hand your materials to someone on the recruiting staff in the 2nd floor of the Bill Brown Alumni Center and the office of the Director of Player Personnel/Recruiting Suite BEFORE 5 p.m. on March 20th to in order to process all the information prior to the try out (office is located next to the Main Lobby area). Any materials not handed in prior to March 20th will disqualify you from trying out. In addition, if you have undergone a previous try out with the Broncos, there will be no preferential treatment and all new documents will need to be presented as no previous documents have been kept on file.
