ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team faced Northern Illinois University during its first Mid-American Conference road test of the season, prevailing 5-2 over the Huskies on Sunday afternoon.Â
The win improves the Broncos' record to 10-7 overall while the Brown & Gold has started conference play 2-0 for the second consecutive season.Â
WMU sealed the doubles point with wins on courts three and two. The No. 2 pair of
Melina Lyubomirova and
Femke Tjon-A-Joe won 6-4 Veyhle/Slisko to give put the Broncos up 1-0 heading into singles.Â
During singles competition, Western Michigan went up 5-0, securing the match-clinching point with a
Kristina Tiraspolsky win at the No. 6 spot.Â
