COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan hockey junior forward Hugh McGing has earned Second Team All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference honors, as announced by the NCHC on Wednesday afternoon.
McGing earns the honors for the first time in his career. The NCHC All-Conference team is voted upon by the league's eight head coaches and only stats from conference games are taken into consideration.
The Chicago, Ill., native finished tied for third in the league in goals with 11 and also had nine assists for 20 points. He had three power play goals and two short-handed goals in conference play and recently netted the over-time game-winner in a 5-4 victory at Colorado College.
McGing is the third Bronco to earn a spot on the All-NCHC team, joining Sheldon Dries (2016-17, second team) and Chase Balisy (2013-14, second team).
McGing and the Broncos host Colorado College this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX and online at www.wmubroncos.com/tickets. The first 1,000 WMU students in attendance on Friday will get in free and any WMU student attending Friday's game can exchange their ticket stub for a free student section ticket for Saturday's game courtesy of head coach Andy Murray.
