CLEVELAND, Ohio- Western Michigan senior gymnast Rachael Underwood was named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week.

After missing last week's meet at Ball State with injury, Underwood returned to competition and turned in a first-place finish against Eastern Michigan. In her only event, Underwood won the balance beam with a 9.900, setting a new career high. Underwood's beam score is one of only two 9.9 or better this season in the MAC. 

It is the second MAC honor for Underwood, who was also named MAC Gymnast of the Week following her performance in the season-opener against Northern Illinois.

Western Michigan competes at home this weekend, hosting Towson on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. It will be the Broncos' Mental Health Awareness Meet.
