Volleyball Adds Four to 2020 Recruiting Class

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – On Tuesday Western Michigan volleyball head coach Colleen Munson announced the addition of four student-athletes that have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Broncos next fall.

The 2020 recruiting class consists of Mairead Boyle (Palos Heights, Ill.), Logan Case (Maineville, Ohio), Andelyn Simkins (Schoolcraft, Mich.) and Abi Wilcoxson (Spring Arbor, Mich.).

Mairead Boyle • Libero/DS • Palos Heights, Illinois • Marist High School
Boyle is a two-time IHSA 4A State champion at Marist High School. As captain during her senior campaign, Boyle earned ESCC All-Conference honors and was named to the AVCA Under Armour All-American Watch list as she helped Marist to a 34-2 regular season record.

In 2019, Boyle was a bronze medalist at the 2019 USAV Junior Nationals in 17 Open. In her final prep season, Boyle recorded 323 digs, 71 assists and 34 service aces.

During her junior season Boyle was a Daily Southtown All-Area selection and was named to the 2018 AVCA Phenom List and Nike Presidents' Day 17 Open All-Tournament team. During her junior season Boyle captured 376 digs, 56 assists and 26 service aces.

Boyle on Choosing WMU: "I chose WMU because I thought it was a special place where I could continue my volleyball career while getting a great education. I could see myself on campus when I visited and the coaches and team made me feel at home."

Logan Case • Setter • Maineville, Ohio • Ursuline Academy
Case during her prep career guided Ursuline Academy to a 77-8 record while capturing two state championships. Case for her career recorded 3,842 assists, 136 service aces, 1155 digs, 222 kills and 113 blocks.

For her performance during her senior campaign, Case was named GGCL and District 16 Player of the Year. Case was also named a Third Team Under Armour All-America.  Case has earned First-Team All-State honors in consecutive seasons and was a Prep Volleyball All-American in 2018.

In 2018, Case was also named the Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year and the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Women's Sports Association Female Athlete of the Year.

Andelyn Simkins • Outside Hitter • Schoolcraft, Mich. • Schoolcraft High School
In her prep career Simkins became Schoolcraft's career leader in kills and digs and eclipsed 2,000 career kills, just the 18th player in MHSAA history to do so. Simkins during her senior campaign helped Schoolcraft earn the No.1 ranking in the state's Division 3 poll and an appearance in the MHSAA Division 3 volleyball quarterfinals.

Simkins is a two-time First Team All-State selection while earning Second Team All-State honors her freshman season. Simkins is also a three-time First Team All-SAC and All-Region honoree. In her senior season, Simkins was one of 10 finalists for Michigan Miss Volleyball.

Abi Wilcoxson • Outside Hitter • Spring Arbor, Mich. •  Parma Western High School
As a three-year varsity starter, Wilcoxson guided Parma Western High School to a 44-4-1 record with 1,557 career kills. Wilcoxson was named team MVP each of the past two years and during her senior campaign earned All-State, Region, Conference and District honors.

Wilcoxson holds the Parma Western High School record for career kills, kills in a single-season, career attack percentage and career attack attempts. Wilcoxson was also a four-year varsity starter in softball, holding single-season records in home runs, doubles, batting average and RBIs.

Wilcoxson on Choosing WMU: "I wanted a college that had a lot of people but also a smaller campus. I also chose WMU because I love the coaches and team. The support they give is unmatched."
