Hockey Falls at Michigan, 4-0

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team dropped its third straight game, this time falling at Michigan, 4-0, on Friday night.

The Broncos (1-3-1) outshot the Wolverines 36-31 on the night but were unable to find the back of the net.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Johnny Beecher and Nolan Moyle in the first eight minutes of the game. Beecher took advantage of a WMU turnover and scored at 5:25. Just under two minutes later Moyle added his goal in transition at 7:23.

Michigan added to its lead in the opening minute of the second period with Will Lockwood scoring on a rebound off a shot by Nick Pastujov just 39 seconds in.

WMU had two power play opportunities in the second period, getting five shots on goal during them and closed the shots on goal game to go ahead 23-20 but still trailing on the scoreboard.

Wil Lockwood scored just 16 seconds into the third period to push Michigan's lead to 4-0. The Broncos outshot the Wolverines 13-11 in the final stanza but U of M goalie Strauss Mann stopped all of them to earn his second shutout of the season. Starting goalie Brandon Bussi made 17 saves on the night before being subbed out for senior Ben Blacker after the fourth goal. Blacker made 10 saves in the period.
