CHICAGO, Ill. – The No. 16-ranked Western Michigan men's soccer team dropped its third consecutive game early Tuesday, Sept. 4 morning at the University of Illinois Chicago. After a nearly three-hour delay due to weather and field conditions, the Broncos fell 1-0 to the flames, suffering a third-straight shutout loss.Â
The offensive woes continued at UIC after back-to-back shutout losses versus DePaul and Butler as WMU's record now sits at 1-3-0 overall.
After a scoreless first half in which the Broncos held a 5-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities, the home team led 7-1 in shots. UIC garnered most of the offensive output in the second half, finding pay dirt 10 minutes in at the 55
th minute, the eventual game-winner.
For the game, the Broncos were outshot 18-5 while leading 7-6 in corner kicks.
Lukas Von Lienen earned his first collegiate start in net for WMU and tallied five saves, the most by a Bronco keeper this season.Â
Up next, Western Michigan heads to Ann Arbor, Mich. on Friday, Sept. 7 for a contest at No. 21 University of Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
