Women's Soccer Falls at Bowling Green, 2-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Western Michigan women's soccer team suffered its first loss in Mid-American Conference play on Sunday afternoon, falling at Bowling Green 2-0.

The game was scoreless until late in the second half when Chelsee Washington gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute. Washington got the ball from Laura Bozzelli and put it into the top-left corner for her sixth goal of the season.

BGSU's Erica Hubert put the nail in the coffin with 45 seconds left to play. Maureen Kennedy played a long pass up to Hubert and she beat WMU (9-3-0, 3-1-0 MAC) goalkeeper Hannah Sargent to push the lead to 2-0.

The Broncos were outshot 18-9 overall and 13-4 in shots on goal, with Sargent setting a new career high of 11 saves. Roselyn Kyeame led the Broncos with three total shots, landing two on goal but saved by Kathleen Duwve, who made four on the day for the shutout.

Western Michigan returns home to the WMU Soccer Complex on Thursday to take on the Miami RedHawks at 4 p.m. The game will also be streamed on ESPN+. From there, WMU heads back on the road to Ball State on Sunday for a  2 p.m. kickoff.
