KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan junior wide receiver
D'Wayne Eskridge was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week after making eight receptions for 240 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos' season-opener against ACC opponent Syracuse on Aug. 31.
Eskridge's 240 yards and two touchdowns were career highs. His 240 yards receiving tied for the 12th most in a single-game in MAC history and were the most recorded by an FBS receiver in Week One of 2018. Eskridge had back-to-back touchdown receptions to start the third quarter, hauling in a 21-yard strike and then an 84-yard touchdown over the middle, sprinting away from Syracuse's defense.
WMU heads to in-state Big Ten Conference opponent and preseason No. 14-ranked Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 8, for a noon kickoff. It will be the fifth time since 2001 the Broncos and the Wolverines have met.
