TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team netted three goals in under three minutes to rally and defeat Indiana State, 3-2, on the road on Friday night.
Down 1-0 after giving up a penalty in the first half, the Broncos (6-2-0) flipped the game on its head in the second half on back-to-back-to-back goals by Morgan Otteson, Paige Dobbs, and Alyssa Burke to jump to a 3-1 lead. Otteson's goal came in the 62nd minute when she finished off a cross from Hannah Kahn, banking it off the right post and in for her second career goal.
With the game tied at 1-1, Dobbs made a late run on a corner kick by Grace Labadie and headed it through a crowd of defenders and into the net for her first collegiate goal in the 63rd minute. Just 1:02 later Burke netted her third goal of the season to push the lead to 3-1. Burke settled a pass from Labadie, turned her defender and fired a low shot into the right corner of the net.
Alina Steffen cut the lead in the 85th minute after finishing off a cross on a free kick by Katie Wells but the Broncos killed off the final five minutes to earn their second road win of the season.
WMU outshot ISU 20-9 overall and had an 9-4 advantage in shots on goal. Labadie and Burke led all Broncos with five shots on the night.
Western Michigan had 10 shots in the first half but the lone tally came from Katie Sidloski on a penalty kick in the 26th minute.
The Broncos open up Mid-American Conference play, hosting Akron on Friday at 4 p.m.
