CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Western Michigan softball team defeated Penn 5-2 (8 INN) and Niagara 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the Eddie C. Moore Complex as the Broncos have now won three games in a row and will return to the USF Under Armour Tournament this weekend.

Over the two games freshman
Samantha Coffel batted 4-for-7 with a double. Junior
Erin Barg singled and drove in two runs against Niagara that ended up being game winning. Sophmore
Kaylen Glenfield continued to be strong in the batter's box as the outfielder went 3-for-8 and scored a run.
Brooke Wyman also had a pair of hits for the Broncos as the short stop also notched an RBI.
WMU vs. PENN
In their second consecutive game against the Quakers, the Broncos once again found themselves in extra innings against Penn in the first game of the day. Penn took the early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first before Western Michigan broke through the Quaker pitcher in the fourth to even the score at two apiece. The Bronco offense erupted in the eighth, scoring three runs, while starting pitcher
Jordan Kurth and the rest of the WMU defense sealed the victory in the second half of the inning.
Kurth pitched her second complete game of the season as the junior is now 3-3 overall for the Brown & Gold. The Aurora, Ill. native gave up seven hits for two runs (one earned) and struck out a game-high six batters all while walking just one. Four Broncos connected on two hits including Wyman, Coffel, Glenfield and senior
Aspen Williams.
WMU vs. NU
In the night cap against Niagara, freshman
Reily Galloway threw a complete game in her first collegiate start for Western Michigan to earn her first career victory and push the Broncos to 8-10 overall. Galloway struck out a career-high six Purple Eagles, allowed four hits and just one run.
All the scoring in the game occurred in the fourth inning as Niagara took a 1-0 lead in the top half. Hero Barg delivered a two-out single to right field as Glenfield and Williams scored for the Broncos while Galloway gave up just two hits the remainder of the game to help seal the victory.
Western Michigan sets its eyes on Friday as the second half of the USF Under Armour Tournament begins with the Broncos facing Delaware State at 9:15 a.m. and Central Connecticut at 11:15 a.m.
