Broncos Blanked by Bobcats, 2-0

ATHENS, Ohio – The Western Michigan women's soccer team dropped its final conference road game of the season, falling at Ohio 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Broncos (12-6-0, 6-4-0 MAC) fired off 19 total shots, landing six on goal but the Bobcats scored early in the first half and late in the second half to set the final. Grace Labadie and Alyssa Burke each had five shots, landing three each on goal to lead the team.

OU took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute on a goal by Sydney Leckie. Madelyn Mah had a shot saved by WMU goalkeeper Hannah Sargent but recovered the rebound and passed it to Leckie for the goal.

The pace picked up in the second half with Ohio firing off 13 shots and the Broncos 12. It was the Bobcats that found the back of the net, though, in the 84th minute to put the game out of reach. Sarina Dirrig pounced on a rebound and put it in the net for her fourth goal of the season.

Western Michigan closes out the regular season on Thursday, hosting Northern Illinois at 3 p.m. at the WMU Soccer Complex. Admission is free.
