Sipple's Equalizer Gives Men's Soccer 1-1 Draw at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio. - The Western Michigan men's soccer team and Bowling Green State University played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime on Saturday, Oct. 20 during the Broncos' third Mid-American Conference contest of the season. 

The Broncos (8-5-3, 0-1-2 MAC), trailing 1-0 near the end of the match, got a goal from Cameron Sipple at the 88th minute to tie the game at 1-1, finishing a cross from Anthony Bowie to give the Brown & Gold a point in the MAC standings. 

Sipple is now tied for the team-lead with four goals on the year. 

BGSU held a 5-3 shot advantage while WMU led 2-0 in corner kicks as both teams were scoreless heading into the break. 

There was more action in the second half as the Broncos tallied eight shots compared to five from the home team, as well as five corners to four from the Falcons. BGSU scored the first goal of the match with just over 10 minutes remaining prior to Sipple's equalizer. 

The Falcons held a 5-4 shot advantage through two overtime periods, but neither team was unable to find the back of the net. The shot total ended up even at 15-15. 

Lukas Von Lienen made his 12th start of the season in net for WMU and notched three saves in 110 minutes as his record moves to 6-2-3 overall. 

Next up, Western Michigan hosts Northern Illinois University on Saturday, Oct. 27 during senior day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at WMU Soccer Complex.
