ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Western Michigan soccer team fell to the University of Michigan in an exhibition match, 5-0, on the road on Friday night.
WMU went down 1-0 midway through the first half on one of Taylor Timko's four goals on the night. The Broncos kept the deficit to 1-0 into the second half before Timko struck again in the 46th minute. Michigan's Abby Kastroll scored minutes later and Timko added two more later on in the second half.
"Michigan is a very good team and to play against a talented group like that only helps us get better and that's the point of these exhibition games," said head coach Lauren Sinacola "This game showed us the areas we need to improve in, but we also some very promising things out of our team that we can build off of.
In total 24 Broncos saw game action against the Wolverines.
"A lot of players gained some valuable time and a lot of experience last night," Sinacola added. "We have one more exhibition game on Monday against Detroit Mercy and we will look to get better from that game as well."
Western Michigan takes on the Titans on the road at 3 p.m. on Monday.
