KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan baseball fell 18-3 Sunday afternoon to Ball State at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field, as the Cardinals bats stayed red hot all series long. The Broncos, who took down Michigan State in their last midweek game, will look to bounce back with another midweek game at Northwestern on Tuesday, April 11 at 4:30 p.m.

Ball State's offense banged out 19 hits and drew 12 walks against the Bronco pitching staff. The Cardinals jumped out to a big lead in the first inning and WMU could never recover.
The Brown & Gold finished with eight hits and drew five walks. Jimmy Roche went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI while Alex Goodwin finished 2-for-4 with a run. Nate Grys went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI while Tanner Allison, who was extremely hot all series long at the plate, went 1-for-4 with a walk. Jesse Forestell contributed a hit and Ethan Hajdukovic pinch hit and came up with a single.
WMU used six pitchers in the game as Allison suffered the loss, the first of the season for him. Matt McConnell entered to pitch 1.1 shutout inning allowing no hits and no walks with one strikeout while Chris Modrzynski pitched a scoreless ninth inning and picked up a strikeout.
Throughout the series, Allison hit .545 with a double, a home run, a stolen base, four RBI and two runs while slugging .909. Goodwin had a big series as well, hitting .500 with three runs while Grys hit .364 with a double and a team-leading six RBI.
