The Broncos led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Miami scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth and had a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th. The RedHawks scored the tying run in the eighth inning on a wild pitch.
WMU was able to get out an early lead thanks to the bat of Miller, as the senior hit his first career home run to put the Broncos up 1-0. Both Tanner Allison and Alex Goodwin followed the home run with two-out singles, but WMU couldn't add onto the lead in the inning.
The game went four straight scoreless innings until WMU made it a 3-0 lead in the top of the sixth off a Nate Grys two-run home to left center, his first of the season. Jesse Forestell had a nice two-out single before Grys came to the plate.
Miami finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with one run off two hits and a few Bronco mistakes. The RedHawks had the bases loaded with two outs in the inning, but a foul out to Forestell at first base ended the threat.
In the bottom of the ninth, WMU had the go-ahead run at second base with one out and at third base with two outs, but couldn't push him across.
Two Broncos had multiple hit games, as Grys finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI and Forestell went 2-for-4. Evan Nelson had a double while Miller went 1-for-4 with a solo home run.
Jacob Piechota got the start for WMU and pitched 5.0 innings allowing just one run on seven hits with six strikeouts. Gabe Berman (1-1) suffered the loss, pitching the final 2.1 innings.
