KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Redshirt junior Marley Hill finished with a career-high 25 points, but the Western Michigan women's basketball team fell to Mid-American Conference (MAC) West foe Toledo Wednesday night 72-66 at University Arena.

The Broncos, who are currently in a stretch where the team faces five straight winning opponents, fall to 14-8 overall and 5-6 in the MAC while the Rockets improved to 15-7 overall and 6-5 in the MAC.
Hill, who's previous career-high was 24, went 10-for-21 from the field, hitting one 3-pointer and finished with seven rebounds. Sophomore Breanna Mobley finished one point shy of a double-double, scoring nine and finishing with 10 rebounds, with seven coming on the offensive glass. Senior Meredith Shipman filled the stat sheet, going for eight points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks. She hit two 3-pointers, making this the seventh straight game she's done so. Junior LaTondra Brooks gave the team a big boost off the bench, scoring a season-high eight points, grabbing four rebounds and finishing with three steals. Junior Alexis Parks, who also came off the bench, scored a season-high six points.
The Broncos owned the first quarter, outscoring the Rockets 22-14, where the team shot 8-for-19 from the floor, 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Toledo cut the deficit to five heading into halftime and took over in the second half, outscoring WMU 44-33. In the fourth quarter, WMU cut the Rocket lead to two points on a Shipman 3-pointer with 1:24 to go, but the Rockets converted at the free-throw line down the stretch where they scored their final six points.
WMU shot a very high percentage from the free-throw line, going 16-for-18 while sophomore Deja Wimby and Hill each went 4-for-4. The Rockets won the rebounding battle 40-38 and outshot the Broncos 41.9 percent to 35.9 percent. WMU finished with less turnovers (13-11) but also had less assists (17-9).
The Broncos will head north to face rival Central Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. Feb. 18 against Eastern Michigan is WMU's annual Play 4Kay game. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.
