"I was really pleased with our first twenty minutes of the game despite our shaky start," commented Clipfell. "Once we started scoring we were able to hold them in check. Throughout the first period, we took care of the basketball, shared the ball exceptionally well and we did better on the glass but the second twenty was the polar opposite. We have lots of kids that can shoot the ball and that showed tonight but we have to do it on a more consistent basis."

The 49-point defeat is the largest margin of victory for Western Michigan this season after a total team effort. Of the 17 players that found the court, 15 scored inside University Arena. Junior Breanna Mobley led all players with 21 points and 10 rebounds going 9-for-11 from the field. The double-double was the forward's 22nd career double-double third of the season.

Western Michigan connected on a season-high 32 field goals against the Comets after shooting 50.8 percent from the floor. From the line, the Broncos converted 12 of their 17 attempts while shooting 10-for-28 from behind the arc (.357 percent).

Despite trailing by three early the Broncos stormed back, ending the first quarter on a 26-3 run in the final six minutes of play. As a team, WMU shot 12-of-17 for a 70.6 percentage rate while freshman Jordan Walker recorded her 10 points in the first.

The second quarter was much the same, while senior guard Najee Smith led WMU tallying seven points. The Broncos outscored the Comets 27-9 in the quarter to take a 40-point lead into the break. Compared to the first, WMU went cold in the second but held OC to just 18 total points in the half en route to the home opening victory.

The Broncos dished out a season-high 25 total assists, led by junior guard Deja Wimby's game-high five assists. Defensively WMU forced the Comets to turn the ball over 23 times, converting on 24 points off turnovers. Along with the 13 offensive rebounds, the Broncos tallied 16 second chance points on the night.

Other notables include junior forward Meredith Miller's career-high 10 rebounds and season-high eight points and freshman Nina Farkic's five points.

WMU returns to the road, traveling to Michigan State on Sunday, Dec. 3, to face its third Big Ten opponent in the last 15 days. Tipoff is set for 12:30 p.m. and will be aired on Big Ten Plus. The Spartans are 4-2 on the season including a 3-0 home record.
