ATHENS, Ohio – The Western Michigan women's soccer picked up fits first Mid-American Conference win on the road, 2-0, at Ohio on Friday afternoon.

Junior Tiffany Buckler netted both goals for the Broncos (8-3-0. 2-1-0 MAC), while junior goalkeeper Stephanie Heber made four saves to record WMU's fifth shutout of the season. Western Michigan outshot the Bobcats 19-5 overall, including holding OU to just one shot in the first half.

"Today was a great team win," said head coach Lauren Sinacola. "We started off very strong and created a lot of goal-scoring opportunities throughout the game. Ohio picked up the pressure in the second half but our defensive unit along with Heber was strong and executed what we trained very well."

WMU got on the board early with Buckler's first goal of the season at 19:00. A shot by a Bronco was blocked by an Ohio defender and she slotted the rebound in the bottom right corner of the net to give Western Michigan a 1-0 lead.

Buckler struck again in the 39th minute with her second of the day. Alyssa Burke played the ball to Buckler, who chipped it over Bobcat goalkeeper Erin Beurket and into the net. Burke tallied her team-best fifth assist on the goal.

Shots were an even 4-4 in the second half, with OU landing three of the four on net but saved by Heber to seal the shutout victory.

Western Michigan has a quick turnaround and heads to a tough Kent State (7-1-0, 3-0-0 MAC) that sits at the top of the MAC East.
