Box Score 2 MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.- Western Michigan took game one at Central Michigan, 7-2, before being edged in game two, 8-4, as the two Mid-American Conference rivals split a doubleheader Tuesday.
Junior outfielder
Erin Binkowski went 3-for-7 with a home run, a double and four RBIs on the day. Her home run was her 10th of the year, tying the Western Michigan single-season record set by Lexi Jager in 2009. Binkowski now has 18 career home runs, moving into a tie for third on WMU's all-time list. Jager holds the career long ball record with 25.
Western Michigan and Central Michigan will square off in a decisive game three in Kalamazoo on Wednesday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
The Broncos (14-17, 5-3 MAC) play their next five games at home, beginning with a 4 p.m. non-conference contest against IPFW tomorrow. WMU hosts Miami for a three-game MAC series this weekend. Game one will be Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. The Broncos break from league play to host Detroit April 12 before hosting the Chippewas on April 13.
GAME ONE:Western Michigan allowed a run in the first inning but stormed back with two unearned runs in the third and five more runs in the fourth. CMU pushed its second run across in the bottom of the sixth.

Kelsea Cichocki hit back-to-back RBI doubles for WMU in the third.
The Broncos had four extra-base hits in the fourth. Binkowski led off the inning with her record-tying 10th home run, blasting a ball out to left field. With one out, the Broncos strung together three hits, as freshman

Ivy Schaaf singled. With two away, Gamboa plated two with her second double of the game. WMU's fifth run came across as Cichocki reached on an infield error.
Gamboa was 2-for-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Binkowski went 2-for-3, also singling in the second. As a team, the Broncos totaled 11 hits.
Senior pitcher
Allyson Kus evened her record at 9-9 on the season throwing a complete game. She surrendered four hits, walked three and struck out six.
GAME TWO:Central Michigan's CarolAnn Sexauer hit a solo home run in the first to give the Chippewas a 1-0 lead and the Broncos pulled even on a two-out RBI single by Cichocki in the third.
CMU scored again in the fourth but Binkowski answered in the top of the fifth, clearing the bags with a bases-loaded double to put WMU on top, 4-2. CMU scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead, 5-4, before closing out the victory with three runs in the sixth.
Freshman pitcher
Jordan Kurth (4-5) took the loss, giving up the eight runs and eight hits over 5.2 innings. She struck out seven.
Senior
Melissa Palmer batted 2-for-4 with two runs scored. WMU had seven hits in the game.
