Box Score EAST LANSING, Mich.- Western Michigan jumped out to a 2-0 lead but couldn't hold off the Spartans, falling to Michigan State, 12-2, Tuesday.

Unfortunately for Western Michigan the three singles in the first inning would be the Broncos' only hits of the game.
Michigan State (18-14 record) shot back with six runs off of six hits in the bottom half of the first.
Neither team scored in the second inning and MSU managed five more runs in the third and added a final run in the fourth. Lexi White went 3-for-3 for the Spartans with a double, two RBIs and a solo home run in the fourth. Ebonee Echols hit a bases-loaded triple in the third.
Western Michigan used three pitchers in the game. Senior
Allyson Kus (6-9) started the contest and made it two-thirds of an inning before giving way to sophomore
Anissa Sanchez. Sanchez and freshman
Skyler Sobeski each threw an inning and two-thirds of relief.
Michigan State sophomore Bridgette Rainey (3-1) picked up the win.
Western Michigan (10-16) returns home to host Buffalo in its home-opening Mid-American Conference weekend, April 1 & 2. Friday's game one against the Bulls is at 3 p.m., with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. scheduled for Saturday.
