Box Score ATHENS, Ohio- The Western Michigan softball team fell in its opening Mid-American Conference game at Ohio, 5-2. The Broncos out-hit the Bobcats, 7-5.
WMU fell behind 2-0 after a two-run home run by Ohio's Madison Claytor in the bottom of the second. The Broncos split the difference in the top of third after senior shortstop
Sabrina Gamboa launched her third home run of the season. Her deep ball to center field was her third home run of the season and 18th career.
Gamboa is now tied with Meredith Whitney for second in career home runs at Western Michigan. Lexi Jager (2008-11) is the all-time leader with 25.

Kelsea Cichocki hit her a solo home run in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 2-2.
Ohio's Mikayla Cooper blasted a three-run home run to center field in the bottom the fifth which would lead the Bobcats to the three-run victory.
Western Michigan (9-14, 0-1 MAC) and Ohio (18-8, 1-0 MAC) will finish three-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting 1 p.m.
