Women's Basketball Tops Loyola for Fourth Straight Win

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team earned its fourth straight win of the season Saturday afternoon over Loyola 65-53, as sophomore Breanna Mobley dominated the glass and finished with a season-high 16 rebounds.

The first quarter went back-and-forth, with Loyola coming out with a 16-15 advantage at the break. The Ramblers scored the first point of the game, bringing WMU's record to 4-0 this season when the opponent scores first. The Broncos, who improved to 5-2 this season, outscored the Ramblers 17-12 in the second quarter and took a four-point lead into the half. In the third quarter, WMU put the game out of reach by outscoring the Ramblers 22-13 as Mobley recorded a double-double less than a minute into the second half. Loyola kept it close in the fourth quarter coming to within seven points after a 7-0 run, but Meredith Shipman's second 3-pointer of the game pushed it double-digits once again.

Mobley finished with her ninth career double-double after scoring 12 points to go along with the 16 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive glass. Redshirt junior Marley Hill scored 13 points and added eight rebounds while Shipman finished with 10 points and four assists and Deja Wimby finished with nine points and a career-high nine assists. Freshman Kamrin Reed connected on her first career 3-pointer as a member of the Broncos.

The Ramblers, who were forced to play with seven players tonight, had three players score in double-figures. The Broncos won the rebounding battle, 43-28 and finished with 19 second chance points while holding Loyola to three.

The Broncos will host Fort Wayne on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in University Arena before traveling to Detroit on Saturday, Dec. 10.
