Ball State Postgame Quotes

Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck

Opening Statement

“I'm just really proud of this football team, I thought we played one of our best football games of the season. We beat a team that has two NFL receivers, I mean those guys are good. If you remember last year those guys dominated us. I thought our defensive line did a tremendous job of shrinking the pocket tonight. The one thing about [Ball State QB] Neal we saw on film is he was a really good athlete and he can escape really quickly. I thought we did a good job forcing them into a lot of bad throws.”

“Offensively we had 711 yards of offense and we were five yards away from being perfectly balanced. I very proud of our efforts and proud of our how tonight, that is an amazing group of young men and I'll say that win, lose or draw. That is a special group of men full of special people. I love the way they play and I love the way they coach.”

“A lot of guys are stepping up and playing great football. We have a lot of injuries and guys out for the season and guys are stepping in.”

Wide Receiver Corey Davis

Opening Statement

“Ball State is a great team and we prepared accordingly this week”

On the last three games

“These last three games are going to mean a lot. We have three tough teams and we just have to have to have a good weekend and prepare for next week.”

On the offense as a whole

“The team played really well and our run game was there tonight and that makes our job a lot easier.”

On next week vs. Bowling Green

“We aren't done and we are improving and we are going to attack this week and go out and get it.”

Running Back Jamauri Bogan

Opening Statement

“They are a good team and one of the best 3-6 teams you will see and we expected that and they played very well and so did we.”

On the running game

“It's truly a blessing to play with the guys that we have on this team. Our players were able to do what we wanted to do, but we have to always give credit to the offensive line no matter what. If they don't block we get nothing.

On the offense as a whole

Corey Davis makes plays, Zach Terrell makes elite reads, so it is a collective effort to be able to do what we do.”

Ball State head coach Pete Lembo

Opening Statement

“We got off to a tough start. We couldn't get a rhythm going offensively and just left the defense out there way too long, I thought our defense did a good job defending the run in the first half but we just got worn down defensively and gave up some explosive plays in the second half especially in the running game.”

On the short week

“We had a poor performance in all three phases and that's my responsibility to get them ready, despite the short week, I thought we did a decent job preparing, obviously it didn't show at all tonight.”

On the team's composure
“We fell behind and lost heart and composure at times. We have to maintain our discipline and we have to execute at our very best level and we didn't do that tonight, that's on me and the staff.”

On the team's year.
“We have been up and down all year. It is a tough pill to swallow I'm disappointed in myself. I am going to keep working hard with these guys to get back on track.”
