YPSILANTI, Mich.- The Western Michigan football team defeated Eastern Michigan, 58-28, on the road Thursday night to start Mid-American Conference play 4-0 for the first time since 2008.

WMU also secured the Michigan MAC trophy for the second year in the row, sweeping in-state conference counterparts Central Michigan (Oct. 10, 41-39 win) and Eastern Michigan.

The Broncos' 58 points were the most scored by Western Michigan since racking up 68 against Akron in 2011.

Junior wide receiver Corey Davis reached 3,000 career yards receiving, moving into fifth all-time at WMU and two yards shy of surpassing Jarmarko Simmons in fourth (3,019). Davis hauled in seven passes for 105 yards, his fourth-100 yard game of the year.

Freshman running back Jamauri Bogan scored four touchdowns on eight carries and had 61 yards rushing. He became the first Western Michigan back to register four rushing TDs since Phil Reed accomplished the feat against Bowling Green in 2002.

Western Michigan had 595 yards of total offense and led 23-14 at the half. The Broncos scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to break the game open and build a 44-14 advantage.

Eastern Michigan scored a touchdown on its first drive of the game to take a 7-0 lead. WMU had to settle for a pair of field goals on its first two drives, but finally punched the ball in the end zone on a 2-yard run by Bogan at the end of the first quarter to pull ahead, 13-7. WMU continued to add to its lead the remainder of the game.

WMU forced a season-high four turnovers against the Eagles. Trevor Sweeney forced a fumble for the second straight week, stripping the ball away on a kickoff return in the first quarter. Asantay Brown picked off his second pass of the season at the end of the first quarter and Ronald Zamort intercepted a ball to begin the third quarter. EMU quarterback Brogan Romack lost his grip on the Eagles' next drive for EMU's fourth turnover.

Junior quarterback Zach Terrell was WMU's leading rusher with 72 yards, ripping off a 31-yard touchdown in the third quarter, his longest career rush to date. He completed 17 of 23 pass attempts for 252 yards.

Senior kicker Andrew Haldeman had his best game of the year connecting on all three field goal attempts and going 7-for-7 in PATs. His first field goal was a season-long 42 yards in the first quarter, followed by a 41-yarder for WMU's first six points of the game. He also hit a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter.

In the fourth quarter, freshman backup quarterback Tom Flacco threw his first career touchdown pass, connecting with Michael Henry for a 64-yard score. It was also Henry's first career TD. Henry was WMU's second leading receiver with a career-high 95 yards. Junior Daniel Braverman finished with 78 yards on five catches.

Brown led the defense with 12 tackles. Jason Sylva and Caleb Bailey each had six. Cleveland Smith was credited with 2.5 tackles for a loss.
