Head Coach PJ Fleck 

Opening Statement

Virginia Tech is a good football team. They beat Ohio State. Their defensive line and defensive side is very talented. If you talk about the worst nightmare ever, it happened at the beginning of that game giving up 18 points. We had 18 true freshmen out there against grown men. We created our own nightmare. We did that. They are a well-coached football team. We need to get our guys to step up and not just step in. We are not deep enough yet. I'm proud of our efforts but they executed what they needed to execute.

On Special Teams

Anytime you face Beamer Ball you know what you're getting into. When it comes to their return game is that their athletes are better than our athletes. You're never going to stop Beamer ball but limiting them is what you have to do.

On Hokies run attack

They out-willed us towards the end. We have three true freshmen who play on our d-line. We are not a very deep team. We only have 71 scholarship athletes. Those freshmen are going to be better for it in the long run.

On what he likes about his team

They are a scrappy group. They don't quit. That's what I love about them. We are better and more athletic. We've got people that we can make plays. We're fighters, we're scrappers, we're a different football team than we were.
