WMU SOFTBALL NEWS & NOTES
• Melissa Palmer continued her hot-hitting week, going 1-for-3 on Sunday against NIU and leading the team over three games last week hitting .400 (4-for-10) with a run scored and the first home run of her Bronco career in a 5-0 win over Valparaiso
• Palmer currently has the team's longest hit streak of the season with eight and has reached safely in 12-straight games, also best on the team this year
• Megan Stamm has hit not one, but two grand slams this season and matched her career high for RBIs in a game (4) twice over the last two weeks
• Allyson Kus earned her third shutout of the season, working her 16th complete game of the year when WMU defeated 2013 Horizon League champion Valparaiso 5-0 to start last week, with the sophomore sitting down the final nine Crusaders that came to the plate to secure the victory, her team-leading ninth win of the year
• Western Michigan opened last week with a shutout victory on the road against 2013 Horizon League champion Valparaiso. but closed out the week suffering a series loss at the hands of NIU
• WMU will face its third nationally ranked opponent of 2014 when it travels to No. 5 Michigan on Tuesday, April 8, before hosting its first home games of the season against Miami (April 11) and Ball State (April 12-13)
