WMU SOFTBALL NEWS & NOTES
• Western Michigan went 3-1 during a MAC weekend for the first time this season
• The Broncos won back-to-back extra-inning games to close out the EMU series and open the CMU series
• Megan Stamm hit three-run home runs in both of those extra-inning wins to give her a team-high seven home runs and ties Sabrina Gamboa with nine career home runs for the active career lead
• WMU has a league best five grand slams this season and had a chance to have another against EMU, loading the bases with no outs at one point
• Allyson Kus was named MAC West Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after going 3-0 in three starts with an ERA of 0.39
• Kus allowed just two walks over 18.0 innings of work, striking out 16 batters including a career high seven batters in WMU's 4-0 win to open the CMU series
• Melissa Palmer hit .357 this past week (5-for-14) with the second home run of her career (both coming this season)
• Palmer's highlight game of the week came in WMU's 4-1 win at EMU where she had a 3-for-5 performance, including the home run that led off the game
• Palmer hit safely in three of four games and reached base safely in all four games of the weekend
• Palmer leads the team with 13 multi-hit games in 2014 with 10 two-hit games, two three-hit games and one four-hit performance
