• Western Michigan finally played a home game in 2014 as the Broncos went 2-2 in their home-opening weekend against Miami and Ball State
• The Broncos swept the season series against Miami, defeating the Red Hawks, 9-4 and 4-0, giving WMU its first season sweep of Miami since 2012
• Western Michigan played its third nationally ranked team of the season when the Broncos traveled to No. 5 Michigan a week ago Tuesday (Michigan has risen to a rank of No. 3 in both national polls this week)
• Ivy Schaaf hit her first career grand slam in WMU's series-opening win against Miami, it was the fifth grand slam of the season for the Broncos (Megan Stamm - 2, Ivy Schaaf - 1, Sabrina Gamboa - 1, Mackenzie Ritsema - 1)
• Sabrina Gamboa's fifth home run of the season, which game in the series opener against Ball State, gives her nine for her career, which is tied for eighth on the career list with Courtney Rouseau (2010-12), Michelle Bendewald (2008-11) and Sam Vargocko (2006-09)
• Allyson Kus picked up her 13th career victory in the circle with the win against Miami, she is now tied with Becca Shemberger for the most wins among active Broncos and currently has 10 wins in the circle in 2014
• Western Michigan's game against Michigan on April 8 was its first game in its home state this season but now WMU travels to in-state rivals Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan this weekend before returning home on April 25-27 for its final home series, against Buffalo (DH) and Kent State, of 2014
