WMU vs. Toledo Post-Game Quotes

Sophomore Forward Marquisha Harris

Comments on the game ...

"It is frustrating loss, due to the fact that we had a decent start. Toledo is a really good team, and really good teams tend to fluster other teams with their defense, and that is what happened to us. They were in our face, and we did not like it, and we did not deal with it. It took us out of our game."

On the difficulty scoring against the strong Toledo defense ...

"I had a hard time scoring tonight. I understand every good shooter has an off night, but I don't know what happened tonight. I can't tell how many times I thought a shot was going to go in and didn't. We were getting good looks all game, but we were just not scoring. If we had made more of our shots, it would have been a different game. Games like this are going to happen, but we just have to keep our heads up and keep fighting."

Head Coach Shane Clipfell

Comments on the game ...

"Toledo is a really good team, and one of the better MAC teams in recent history. Toledo is a great team that has the complete package. They defend you like crazy, they force you to miss, they rebound, and they take care of the ball. Their point guard is a playmaker that makes people around her better. Toledo is a machine that is working very well right now."

On the start of game ...

"We came out and scored the first couple baskets to put us ahead early, and put in a few new schemes that worked well through out the game. We had a good start, but went dry for a while. After the first few minutes, it just turned into our struggle to convert shots. This is part on us, and part on the great Toledo defense that forces you out of position and makes you uncomfortable. The frustrating part was that we struggled to get shots, and they made it look easy against us. That is the one thing I believe we could have done better with. We never gave up; we executed, and got the ball where we wanted to. We just have to convert on more shots."
