Opening Statement: Head Coach P.J. Fleck

“Like I said we've got to be better and everything, everything falls on me. We just have to be better, we weren't good enough so when you go back there are so many times we could have put the ball in the end zone, there are so many times we have short yardage that we don't get we have the same guys repeating errors in a tight tense situation. They are going to have to work through that they are going to have to have some experience to work through that. They are in positions sometimes that they have not necessarily been in and they don't have the confidence to do that at times and we have got to improve. The biggest drive to me is when we have the reverse to Darrin Duncan and there is a first and goal and then there is a holding call and then there is another hold or a personal foul and then you don't get any points. We had five field goals and a lot of them are fourth and two on a third down we don't get. We win the turnover battle but when you look at the overtime we still drop a ball in a handoff that was there, you know we have people in the right position. The one thing I will say is that our coaches are doing a tremendous job, we are in the right positions and have people swarming around the ball, but we just don't make the play, we just don't make the play. There are times three people are on the ball and we don't make the play. We have some guys knocked up, Mike Jones getting out, Justin Currie and Donald being out the first half but whoever is in there whether they have played at all or not you have to perform. You have to hand it to Eastern Michigan, they rallied and they wanted it more at the end and they finished. They were playing for a lot, they really were, and they play inspired. That freshmen quarterback did a tremendous job and it was a true rivalry game. We expect it to be close and I knew it was going to be close, that is what happens with rivalry games.

What do you think happened on that last drive?

“We just don't have the depth, we can't sub. We don't have anyone to put in the game, so yeah these guys are taking a ton of plays. You'd like to sub a whole line out and we can't do that. There are guys taking 90 plays on the defensive line, but that's where we are at. It's not an excuse it's just where we are at. If you are in there you have got to do your job. You have to do your job at an elite level, so again that falls on me, I have to find a way to get them to do that for more plays.
