On Western Michigan's Performance...
"I'm really proud of our young men and our diversity. The way they continued to fight has really inspired me as a football coach. I'm the luckiest man alive to the the head coach of Western Michigan. I'm proud of my young men, their determination and their fight. They've learned what it takes now to be a father, to be a husband and a better son."
"I don't care what our record is. In this day and age and in this world, everyone worries about the wins and losses and thats what we do. We get hired to get fired, thats what coaches do. It's being around a group of men that continue to fight. People come down to practice and they think we're the 11-0 team the way we practice. It's truly awesome and I couldn't be prouder to be their football coach and even prouder to say I coached them, but, the 1-11 record falls completely on me. It's 100-percent percent on me. I didn't prepare them enough, but they will continue to grow the next few years."
Comments about Jordan Lynch...
"I think Jordan Lynch is the best college player in football, I really believe that. It's no disrespect to anyone else. I think he's a heck of a player. I say that because he makes every single guy around him better. He is Northern Illinois and he's what Northern Illinois is about. I'm real proud of him because I know the kid personally and he deserves it. With all the pressure and people saying this and saying that, he continues to perform. He's a football player. He's the best football player because he does everything and has everything at a league level. He's an elite player. From watching him live and just being around him, I really believe that, and I think thats what the Heisman Trophy is all about - finding the best player in the country and finding the best player that makes everyone around him better. I don't know what else to say about him but I will end it with that he deserves to be in New York City. "
