WMU Hockey Game Notes

Pre-Game:

· Broncos defeated Michigan State 2-0 on Friday night

 Sophomore Lukas Hafner posted a shutout in his second career start with 22 saves

· It was the first career win and shutout for Hafner

· It was the first shutout win over Michigan State in East Lansing since Dec.11, 1993

·  WMU is 2-2-1 at Lawson Ice Arena this season

·The Broncos are 3-0-1 when leading after two periods this season

· Chase Balisy in eight games has one goal and five assist against MSU

First Period:

·  Kenney Morrison with his first goal of the season on the power play to give WMU the 1-0 lead

· Assisted by  Dennis Brown and Nolan LaPorte

· That ends a streak of 17 straight power plays without a goal

·  Justin Kovacs with his fifth goal of the season to give WMU a 2-0 lead

·  Assisted Shane Berschbach and Sam Miller

· Broncos lead the Spartans 2-0 after first period

·  Shots are tied at 8-8

· WMU is 2-2-1 when leading after the first period

Second Period:

·  Chris Dienes with his first career goal on the power play and the Broncos have a 3-0 lead.

· Assisted by Josh Pitt and Shane Berschbach

· Shane Berschbach with his sixth goal of the season and WMU has a 4-0 lead

· Assisted by Justin Kovacs and Josh Pitt

· WMU leads MSU 4-0 after the second period.

· WMU is outshooting the Spartans 22-19 overall and 14-11 in the period

·Broncos are 3-0-1 when leading after two periods

Third Period:

 Mackenzie MacEachern with his fourth goal of the year to make the score 4-1

·Thomas Ebbing on the assist, his first of the year

·WMU wins 4-1

· MSU outshot WMU 29-26 overall

·WMU was outshot 10-4 in the third period

·WMU is 5-3 when getting outshot by opponent

Post-Game:
