PRE-GAME

  • Western Michigan is taking on Connecticut for the first time since 2003 and for only the second time in the all-time series
  • Western Michigan is 2-8 against teams currently in the Big East with both all-time wins coming against Louisville (prior to the Cardinals joining the conference)
  • Western Michigan's last game against a Big East team came in the 2007 opener at West Virginia after closing out the 2006 season against Cincinnati in the 2007 International Bowl

  • WMU gives up a scoring drive that results in a FG but goes for negative yards for the second straight week (-6 yds at Illinoi; -4 yds at Connecticut)
  • Alex Carder over 300 yards passing for seventh time in career; third time this season

FOURTH QUARTER

  • UConn takes first lead of game on 26-yd TD pass; scoring 17 unanswered points
  • Alex Carder throws for a new career high in passing yards (405 at the 5:53 mark of the quarter)
  • Robert Arnheim with career highs in receptions (10) and receiving yards (113)
  • Chleb Ravenell with a career high in receptions (8)
  • Jordan White over 10 catches in a game for third straight game
  • WMU has three receivers over 100 yards for first time since 2008 (at CMU)
