CLEVELAND- Western Michigan led the defending Horizon League champions by 10 points in the first half, but the Bronco offense went cold in a 66-55 loss at Cleveland State Friday night. All but two Bronco field goals were scored by the senior trio of Ebony Cleary, Brenna Banktson and Taylor Manley.

After leading by 10 at 9:53 in the first half, 24-14, Western Michigan went without a score for almost eight minutes. WMU didn't hit its next basket until 2:19 and Cleveland State went on a 20-0 run. The run allowed the Vikings to take a 36-30 lead into the break. Cleary (14), Manley (8) and Banktson (8) combined for all 30 of WMU's first-half points.

Cleary scored Western Michigan's first six points of the second as the rest of the offense continued to struggle. Maria Iaquaniello was the only other Bronco with a field goal 10 minutes through the half. After shooting 40.7 percent in the first half, Western Michigan shot 30.8 percent in the second. The Broncos committed 28 turnovers in the game.

Cleary finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the year, 12th career. Banktson hit three three-pointers on her way to 18 points. She is one triple shy of 100 for her career. Manley did not score in the second half.

Freshman Cori Buchanan saw extended time after DeAirra Goss fouled out with 14:03 remaining in the game. Buchanan played a season-high 13 minutes and scored five points.

Cleveland State (6-1) placed four players in double figures, led by Janelle Adams with 23. The Vikings outscored the Broncos in the paint, 34-22.

The Brown & Gold (2-6) travel to Southeast Missouri State Tuesday for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off. The Broncos return to University Arena Friday, Dec. 10 to host No. 25 Michigan State.
