BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Western Michigan softball head coach Kathy Leitke will have to wait for another day to reach 500 career wins as the Broncos fell to Bowling Green State University, 2-1, at the BGSU Softball Field on Saturday afternoon.  WMU suffered the loss despite out-hitting the Falcons, 7-3 and a 3-for-3 effort at the plate from Becky Bartosz.

Western Michigan (14-13, 6-5 MAC) scratched out a run in the top of the sixth inning when Bartosz scored on a wild pitch after reaching base with her third base hit of the day, a single to left field.  She advanced to third when Lauren Fuller recorded a hit and both base runners advanced on the throw.

Bartosz registered her first hit in the second inning with a single up the middle.  She recorded her first triple of the year in the top of the fourth when she took the first pitch she saw to right field.

Bowling Green had scored in the bottom of the fifth with one swing of the bat as Delp homered to over the left field wall and answered WMU's tally with a run of its own in the bottom of the sixth, taking the lead for good.

Mandi Sayres extended her hit streak to 10 games with a base knock to lead off the game.  Also recording a hit for the Broncos on Saturday was Lexi Jager with an infield single in the top of the first.  Fuller joined Bartosz with a multi-hit day, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Despite suffering the loss, Kyla Sullivan pitched well for WMU, recording six strikeouts in a complete-game effort.  Western Michigan and BGSU will take the field against one another again on Sunday.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., from BGSU Softball Field.
