BRADENTON, Fla.- The Western Michigan baseball team (8-4-1) concluded its 10-game spring trip with a 13-5 win over Eastern Illinois (0-7). The Broncos went 6-3-1 in Bradenton, Fla., outscoring their opponents, 71-45.
Zach Gentile, Joe Sheets, and Chris Lewis, the first three hitters in the batting order collectively scored 10 runs on seven hits.
Brian Stroud started on the mound for the Broncos and gave up four runs on six hits in six innings. Gus Jacobson closed out the Panthers allowing one run on a pair of back to back doubles in the eighth inning.
Each team committed one error.
The Broncos are back in action March 14-16, traveling to Morehead, Ky., for a four-game series with Morehead State.
