WMU vs. Toledo
Post Game Quotes
Coach Bill Cubit
Opening Statement
“Before anybody asks, it was a dumb call. I tried to get some of those guys off the field and get a first down. And it didn't work, so I'll get that out of the way. I thought our kids played hard. We were rattled with a lot of guys that didn't play. But I think the guys went in there and did a nice job. I thought Aaron Winchester filed in pretty nicely. Matt Stephens got a touchdown, which is good for us. Jamarko Simmons and Juan Nunez came up with big plays. I thought we played really well. That last touchdown, unfortunately. For the most part they played pretty well. I thought the play of the first half was probably the fade route to Juan Nunez. Before half they got us the lead to go into half. So a big win, 9-2. They're all hard. This one was especially hard because some of our guys weren't out there. But I give them a lot of credit. We've got to get healthy, take the next few days and get ourselves healthy."
Jamarko Simmons
On the emotion in the locker room following his final game at Waldo
“It was real hard. All 25 of us, we just sat on the row in the last row there and we just looked at each other. It was all emotion. We came in, about six or seven of us, that were fifth year seniors, it was hard transitioning to our new coach. Coach Cubit came in and told us just to stick with him. Then he brought in E.J. and Louis, it jus put all the pieces together and I'm just grateful to be in this position right now."
E.J. Biggers
“Just sitting in the locker room knowing it's your last time going on the field at your home stadium, like Jamarko said, it's real hard. It's emotional. Looking at the scenes from last year, you don't think it's going to hit you. But then Coach Cubit sat us down and he talked to each and every one of us. It was hard going out, but the underclassmen and Tim and the rest of the guys, they just told us they're going to do their best for us. They're going to send us out with a bang. And everybody did their job today.”
