NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Western Michigan could not get its offense going against the Fighting Irish as the Broncos managed four hits and one run during their doubleheader at Ivy Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Western Michigan (13-16) fell behind by five runs after the first inning of game one.  Notre Dame (22-14) added three more in the second inning and another in the bottom of the fourth inning. 

Despite its best efforts, WMU managed two hits in the first game.  Becky Batosz singled to left field in the second inning and Brittney Reist registered a base hit up the middle in top of the third but the only other Bronco baserunner in game one was Kristi Strange, who reached on an error in the fourth frame.

Western Michigan was able to able plate a run in game two when Strange singled in the sixth inning to score Corey Andrzejewski.  Andrzejewski was pinch hit for by Albani Shepherd, who reached on a fielder's choice and then was replaced on the base paths by Andrzejewski.

Notre Dame scored five runs on seven hits, two in the third and three more in the fifth to earn its 22nd victory of the season.  WMU will return to Mid-American Conference action with a road doubleheader against Kent State (April 20) and a two-game set against Buffalo (April 21-22).
