BOX SCORE

SAN DIEGO- Amanda Parker dropped in career-high 18 points and Tiera DeLaHoussaye had a double-double with 17 points and 13 assists, leading four Broncos in double figures, but WMU still came up short against Seton Hall at the San Diego State Surf ?N Slam Tournament, 85-80.

Molly Dwyer went 4-for-5 from the floor for 14 points and Brenna Banktson chipped in 13 as each hit two three's. As a team, Western Michigan hit a season-high nine three-pointers and shot 45.5 percent from the floor in one of its best shooting performances.

Unfortunately, the Pirates were having a night for the books too, as they scored a season-high 88 points and senior guard Ela Mukosiej produced a career-high 26 points, hitting four three's of her own.

Trailing at the half, 35-27, the Brown & Gold mounted a comeback as the two teams battled back and forth, with the lead changing hands 10 times in the second half.

Seton Hall led by as much as eight with 1:49 left, but the Broncos cut the deficit to three with 20 seconds remaining after Ebony Cleary converted a three-point play and Molly Dwyer hit a reverse layup following a defensive stop. WMU fouled on the in-bounds pass and Seton Hall's Mukosiej missed the front end of a one-and-one. Dwyer corralled a long rebound and fed the ball in low to Bankston. Her shot fell but the opportunity for a three-point play was waved off as she was whistled for a charge, keeping the score at 81-78 with 9.4 seconds left. The remainder of the game would be settled at the free throw line as the Broncos dropped their third straight.

Seton Hall went 18-for-32 (56.3 %) from the floor in the second half and shot 51.6 on the evening. The Pirates outrebounded the Broncos, 39-28. Banktson led the charge on the boards with eight rebounds.

WMU committed fewer turnovers than its counterpart, 18-16. DeLaHoussaye committed just one, while having five steals and five rebounds.

The Broncos wrap up its stint in San Diego, playing the host Aztecs on Sunday at 5 p.m. EST. San Diego State lost to Quinnipiac in the first game of the Surf N' Slam Tournament, 78-59.
