WMU vs. CMU Game Notes

--PRE-GAME--
  • This game pits the 2005 MAC Freshman of the Year, WMU quarterback Tim Hiller, against the 2006 MAC Freshman of the Year, CMU quarterback Dan LeFevour.
  • In the series, the home team has won every game since 2002, when WMU defeated CMU 35-10 in Mt. Pleasant.
  • Central Michigan has not won at Waldo Stadium since 1993 (33-18)
--FIRST QUARTER--
  • Londen Fryar is now tied for second place all-time for pass breakups in a season (14).
  • Western Michigan scored on their opening drive (three-yard rush by Mark Bonds), the first time they've done so all season.
  • Anthony Gebhart's interceptions marks the third of his career, and second against Central Michigan.
  • After a four-yard reception, Jamarko Simmons is now tied for 6th place all-time for receptions in a career (143, tied with Jake Moreland), and tied for second place for receptions in a season (77, tied with Kendrick Mosley).
--SECOND QUARTER--
  • Second straight week that Western Michigan's defense allowed just three points in the first half.
  • Second lowest combined points scored in a first half this season (3-2 last week against Eastern Michigan)
--THIRD QUARTER--
  • Tight end Anthony Middleton's 22-yard reception is a career high (previously 15-yards against Toledo).
--FOURTH QUARTER--
  • Mike Jones makes a 33-yard field goal, tying the game at 10-10 with 14:55 left in the game.
  • After a 16-yard kickoff return, Brandon West moves into second place all-time for single season all-purpose yards (1,774 yards, passing Greg Jennings).
  • Branden Ledbetter's 65-yard reception is his longest of the season. The longest of his career came in 2006 against Ball State when he hauled in a 81-yard pass.
  • Ledbetter's three-yard touchdown reception moved him into a first place tie for most career touchdown receptions by a tight end at WMU (13 TD rec.) He is now tied with Jake Moreland ('96-'99) and Tony Scheffler ('02-'05).
  • Hiller's touchdown strike gives him 35 on his career, moving him into a fourth place tie with Norm Harris ('48-'50).
  • Cody Cielenski's sack gave WMU three team sacks, tying the most times LeFevour has been sacked this season (3 against North Dakota St.). LeFevour had only been sacked nine times heading into the game.
  • Middleton's 25-yard reception is the longest of his career.
  • Dustin Duclo forced LeFevour to fumble with 1:51 left, fumble recovered by Londen Fryar at the 25-yard line, which led to West's go ahead 15-yard touchdown rush.
  • Only 15 seconds between Western Michigan scores (Herb Martin's three-yard touchdown rec. and West's 15-yard rush).
