Quotes from Western Michigan's Bill Cubit
Opening Statement:
"I thought our defense played a lot better. Unfortunately our offense, at times, didn't really execute. We're really disappointed. You try to go out there and try to mix it up, not just run the football the whole time, but you need to execute the simple things. The third down play, we thought we got the first down. But we ended up short. Our defense played pretty well, but at the end of the game (Ball St.) had a couple big plays. I thought a lot of guys had a lot of good effort, unfortunately it didn't work."
Quotes from Ball State's Brady Hoke:
Opening Statement:
"The first half we dropped several balls. We had some drops from guys who usually don't drop the ball, and that hurt us continuity-wise offensively. Defensively, we hung in their pretty much the whole game. We gave up a big run at the end of the first half which destroys you, because they get the field goal out of it. I thought our kids, defensively, fought well. We took a bad angle at the ball during their touchdown in the fourth quarter, and that put them ahead. But I think the kids played hard and played gritty, and we finally got something going offensively at the end.
On the last drive:
"The guys know what they're capable of, and when they're playing and executing they can offensively score points and do some good things. It's a matter of us executing. I thought they came after us defensively pretty well, and did some real good things against us."
